The Returning Christ:
His Triumph Is Our Joy
 

 
I. His Triumph Over Enemies: the Joy of Deliverance from Wrath
 
A. Jesus defeats every enemy (1 Corinthians 15:19-28)
B. All enemies shall be cast into the lake of fire (Rev 20:1-15)
C. We shall be delivered from this wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10; 5:1-9; 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10)
 
II. His Triumph Over the Curse: the Joy of Glorified Bodies
 
A. The Resurrected One will resurrect us (Romans 8:10-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
B. Our groaning will be finished (creation’s, too!) (Romans 8:18-25)
C. Our decay will be turned into glory (2 Corinthians 4:7 – 5:8)
D. Spiritual bodies are better! (1 Corinthians 15:35-53)
 
III. His Triumph Over Sin: the Joy of Perfection in Holiness
 
 
A. From helpless sinners to permanent holiness

1. Upright but still able to sin in the Garden
2. Depraved and thus not able not to sin in the Fall
3. Reborn and therefore able not to sin in Redemption
4. Perfected and finally not able to sin in Glory!

B. When we see Him we shall be like Him (1 John 3:1-3)
(This culminates the process we are in already – cf. 2 Corinthians 3:18)
 
C. Our home with Him is free from sin’s presence (Revelation 21:22-27)
 
Conclusion: The Joy of Seeing His Face (Revelation 22:1-6)
