What To Expect

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

On Sunday morning you'll find real gospel life happening in our church building. Gospel-driven preaching, faith, community, outreach, and worship all come together as local members of Christ's church gather to worship Him, to encourage and connect with one another, and to hear from God's Word.

What We Do

We worship God through gospel-centered preaching, singing, sharing.

Worship Through the Preached Word

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the focal point of all scripture, and so it is the focal point of all our preaching. Our preaching is also primarily exegetical, meaning our sermon series follow one book of the Bible from beginning to end. During the sermon children in grades 1-6 participate in our Sunday school Discovery classes.

WORSHIP THROUGH SINGING

We have a blended worship style, which means we sing both contemporary praise songs and traditional hymns. What all our music has in common is that it is gospel centered, proclaiming the glories of the crucified and risen Savior. For more on music at CMC, click here.

WORSHIP THROUGH SHARING

The share time is a unique expression of real gospel community here at CMC. As part of our worship service each week we listen to, learn from and pray for one another. Someone may share a prayer request, an answered prayer, or encouragement from God’s word. Everyone is invited to share, but no one is required to share.

During this time we also share in the Lord’s Table, or communion. We eat and drink the symbolic bread and wine (juice) to remember Christ’s sacrifice for our sins. We invite all those present who are members of the body of Christ to participate with us.

When We Meet

Christ Memorial has a unique two-service format. We offer two overlapping services linked by the preaching of the Word. Our 8:30 service begins with singing and sharing, followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments before the sermon. Our 9:45 service starts with the sermon, followed by fellowship and refreshments before the singing and share time. We'll sing the same songs, share with and pray for one another, and serve communion in both services.

When You Arrive

You’ll be welcomed by one of our greeters and receive a bulletin that outlines the morning service and the activities for the week. When you hear music, whether organ or praise band, the service is about to start. If you come at 8:30, you'll start with singing and sharing, followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments before the sermon. Or come at 9:45, be fed by the sermon, then respond during the singing and share time. And don't be surprised if you find yourself hanging around after the service is over - we love to talk, pray, catch up with, laugh, and even cry with one another.

During the summer and holiday seasons, we offer these same elements - singing, sharing, preaching and communion - in two distinct, shortened services, with a fellowship break in between.

What About My Children

On Sundays the lower level of our building is alive with children. Throughout the service, infants are lovingly cared for, played with, sung to, rocked and read to. For toddlers and preschoolers, there's also an age-appropriate Bible lesson and time to release some energy in our gym.

During the sermon, children in grades 1-6 meet in our Discovery classes. The lessons follow the same book of the Bible as the sermon, but the teaching is geared for each age group. And for nursing moms, the Cry Room at the front end of the hallway receives a live feed of the service.
