Sunday Morning
On Sundays the lower level of our building is alive with children. Throughout the service, infants are lovingly and safely cared for, played with, sung to, rocked, and read to. For toddlers and preschoolers, there's also an age-appropriate Bible lesson and time to release some energy in our gym. During the sermon, children in grades 1-6 meet in our Sunday school Discovery classes, where the passage they read is the same as the passage the adults hear, but the teaching is geared for their ages. And for nursing moms, the Cry Room at the front end of the hallway receives a live feed from the service.

AWANA (Preschool - Grade 6)
AWANA is an international, Bible-centered children's ministry whose goal is to reach children with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. The acronym "AWANA" stands for "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed," from 2 Timothy 2:15.
At Christ Memorial, AWANA is a spiritually charged and fun time for children from preschool (4 years old) through grade 6. Children are encouraged to learn God's word and to know and grow in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

First the older groups gather for singing and announcements, while preschoolers go straight to their room. What happens next varies by age, but throughout the evening everyone will have game time, snack, craft or shop, and a chance to share verses they’ve memorized during the week and to work on more verses. At the end of the evening, school-age children gather again for a gospel-centered skit.
Children are divided into clubs by grade. The clubs are:
- Cubbies: preschool (ages 4 & 5)
- Sparks: K, 1, 2 (boys and girls together; meet by grade)
- Pals - 3rd & 4th grade boys
- Chums - 3rd & 4th grade girls
- Pioneers - 5th & 6th grade boys
- Guards - 5th & 6th grade girls
Meetings are alternate Fridays from 6:00-8:00pm. A pizza dinner is available for a nominal fee beginning at 5:30 pm. Check the calendar for this year's dates.
Get checked in. Check-in is in the fellowship hall adjoining the sanctuary. It's important that we know you're there - and besides, you'll earn AWANA bucks to use at the AWANA store just for coming.
Twice a year, children can spend the AWANA bucks they've earned by memorizing verses, bringing guests, dressing for a theme night, or just coming to AWANA. The store has a variety of fun and practical stuff for both boys and girls.
Dress for fun - sneakers are best for gym time. AWANA t-shirts can be purchased from any AWANA leader, but are not required. On theme nights, you might come dressed as a clown or a construction worker - or with a crazy hairdo!
The AWANA year kicks off in August with a campout and bonfire. Throughout the year there may be other special events, like movie nights, overnights, and a Pinewood Derby. Check the calendar for dates and times.
Resources for Parents
Throughout the year we offer a number of Parent Talks, designed to help parents train up their children according to gospel truths. Visit our Sermons & Seminars page to listen to previous talks.
